Edmondson Controls Tempo Against Poly

By JOSH STIRN

BALTIMORE, MD - After falling into an 11-0 hole to begin the game, Poly was unable to ever put themselves together to make a run at Edmondson, whose 71-61 victory advanced them to 2-0 in City play.

Edmondson (8-1) beat Dunbar earlier in the week, while Poly’s loss marks its fourth straight and second this week, as they fell to Patterson on Tuesday.

RELATED: DMVelite 100 - Class of 2013 Rankings

The DMVelite Top 50 for the Class of 2014 represents a ranking of the 50 premier juniors (rising seniors) throughout Washington D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

This page includes the Top 50 and our "On The Radar" list of those players that earned consideration for Top 50 honors but did not quite make the cut. With the idea that this Top 50 will expand into a Top 100 in August (post-AAU), our list is comprehensive. With a considerably strong spring and summer performance, an "On The Radar" player can easily find himself in the Top 50.

MPSSAA State Semifinals: 4A Top Performers

By EDGAR WALKER

COLLEGE PARK - Thursday's 4A state semifinals at Comcast Center set up a rematch one year in the making, with defending state champion Magruder and Eleanor Roosevelt advancing to meet for the title at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Justin Witmer was pivotal for Magruder in their semifinal win over Poly, finishing with 17 points in the game, nine of which came in the first half. On top of his scoring, Witmer was a stable presence for the Colonels throughout the game, staying out of foul trouble and hitting the boards hard. His 10 rebounds earned him a double-double for the game.

J.J. Epps was a bit careless with the ball at times (seven turnovers), but made his typical splash offensively, scoring 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting along with being a facilitator for Magruder, especially in transition.
